About Our Dance Program
2025-2026 marks the 5th line for Velocity Dance Team and 3nd line for Dynasty Dance Team! Prior to the establishment of both teams, the students of both LBJ and LASA joined together in song and dance as the First Ladies from 2002-2021. In the 2021-2022 school year, LBJ Early College High School and LASA High School separated campuses physically developed and evolved their own programs. As we build our program over the years to come, we will always reflect back with gratitude and love to the start of it all with our sister team, The LBJ First Ladies.
Velocity is the Varsity Dance/Drill Team and Dynasty and is the Junior Varsity Dance/Drill Team for the Liberal Arts and Science Academy. Our team specializes in many dance genres including (but not limited to): jazz, contemporary, lyrical, pom, and kick. We will also continuously develop other foundational techniques like modern and ballet while appreciating many other diverse forms of dance expression.
Both teams foster teamwork, community, service to our campus and community, and most importantly, we have FUN through dance! Our performances include (but are not limited to):
All members of the Velocity team are required to enroll in the 5th period Drill Team Class and Dynasty members are in the 1st period Drill Team Class. Both teams are required to participate in all performances, events, camps, and activities year round.
We also offer general Dance I-IV for PE or Fine Arts credit to any students that would like to learn more or continue their dance education on campus. These courses are great for all experiences and grade levels. Dancers enrolled in general dance class will learn various genres and have performance opportunities throughout the year without the commitment of being on a team.
Our mission as a team is to heighten school spirit through the art of dance, build upon our dance education through commitment, collaboration, hard work, and leadership as a team and individually. We will support one another as family, and celebrate the joys of dance, everyday! We will work to highlight the unique talents of each member and continuously move with the times to create an innovative and safe space for dance, leadership, and friendship.
